A Message-Oriented Middleware (MOM) is a comprehensive enterprise application integration (EAI) tool that eases integration between applications and between shared infrastructure solutions. It is very good at moving data around the network; that is, it's a great pipe. In doing so, it needs connectors and workflow capability, similar to components found in an IdM solution. In the case of connectors, the MOM and IdM solutions support many of the same target platforms, hence the interest in not maintaining two sets.
