As a result of numerous business scandals, corporate governance has become an urgent issue. Defined, corporate governance is the set of policies and internal controls by which organizations are directed and managed. Information Security Governance (ISG) is a subset of corporate governance that relates to the security of information systems. Information security is all too often perceived as a wholly technical issue. For companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to make progress in securing their information assets, however, executives must make information security an integral part of core business operations. This paper reviews the recommended ISG Framework and outlines how identity and access management solutions provide the foundation of an effective information security program, enabling the extended organization and improving business processes.
