There are many parts to an organization's customer experience technology platform, but at the heart is the Web content management system. The WCM is the means by which an organization creates, stores, and manages content, and from which it delivers business content to the Web and other channels. Not surprisingly, the evolution of Web content management systems has mirrored the evolution of the Web itself. The first generation of WCM tools were designed to help organizations publish static information to their Web site. Site content was always dictated by the organization, and customers and partners had little - if any - input into the information that was posted on these sites.
