Bluetooth is a new technology that enables portable electronic devices to connect and communicate wirelessly via short-range ad-hoc networks. A Bluetooth network is based on piconets. A Bluetooth ad hoc network can be formed by interconnecting piconets into scatternets. This paper proposes an efficient and practical solution for Scatternet formations. The simulations show that the proposed protocol has a low Scatternet formation delay, and can form efficient multi-hop Scatternets.
