Routing protocol supports the delivery of packets. It is the fundamental part of network infrastructure. Today network security has attracted more attention than before but the security concern for routing protocols has not been fully aware by the public. This paper identifies the threats to routing protocols of wired networks and wireless Ad Hoc networks. They discuss the existing secure routing protocols, and point out their drawbacks and vulnerabilities. Finally they conclude with their remarks.
