When the fast-spreading "Sapphire" worm began spreading throughout the Internet last year in 2003, it doubled in size every 8.5 seconds and infected more than 90 per cent of vulnerable Microsoft SQL Server hosts, including those of KT. A huge volume of network traffic was unleashed by the virus, resulting in paralysis of KT's Internet service to over half of Korea's Internet traffic. To protect their network from the effects of future traffic storms, KT needed a solutions provider that could address this issue with strong expertise and deep insight in Internet Protocol (IP) networking. To help detect viruses and worms before they cause massive disruption, Datacraft has developed and deployed TAPS, a network management system that monitors traffic volume and patterns.
