The Vista era of Windows is here. Even if one intends to retain Vista's predecessor, Windows XP, Vista is likely to become part of your environment. If one does not yet have a plan to deal with it, the time to get going is now. New PCs are being shipped with Vista preinstalled, and many executives have expectations to use it eventually. But few enterprises are moving to Vista all at once. IT shops that have a Vista deployment strategy are migrating gradually, supporting a mixed environment of Windows XP and Vista until the transition is complete. Many enterprises have significant populations of Linux systems as well, further mandating that IT professionals support a blend of diverse platforms.
