Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) is one of India's largest power distribution utility in India. Operating in the state of Maharashtra, MSEDCL services more than 15 million customers. Every month, the company generates millions of billing statements that go out to customers. Processing these billings with speed and accuracy is a time-consuming and intensive task. To manage the process better as well as take into account the projected growth in the number of billable customers in the future, MSEDCL restructured its IT infrastructure around Intel architecture-based servers to accelerate billing processing delivering up-to-date and accurate billing reports to its customers. Utilizing Intel Itanium processors, the server deployment is helping MSEDCL to better manage its growing customer base and business demands.
