After numerous strategic acquisitions, LCM Health Care had an array of siloed legacy systems whose separation was limiting insight into the business. A new IT infrastructure was deemed necessary. With acquisitions continuing, staff numbers and demands on LCM Health Care's systems are growing steadily. A scalable, high-performance solution and server architecture was mandatory. To minimize management overheads, iSOFT's i.PM is running on a central bank of Intel architecture-based servers that deliver it to 1,000 desktops using Citrix Systems MetaFrame thin-client software. Also, introduction of 64-bit Itanium 2-based servers has sped the server farm and increased clinicians' and managers' access to critical information, when and where they need it.
