Excel Services in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 combines two very powerful abilities, making spreadsheets available as a service through Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and adding User-Defined Functions (UDF) to those spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are accessible by more users, and it is easier to add powerful Microsoft .NET functionality to those spreadsheets. However, when making any software available as a service, users must be prepared to scale that software to handle variable and unpredictable user loads. This webcast shows the basics of using Excel 2007 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to create spreadsheets with user-defined functions and publish those to SharePoint Server 2007.
