As many have observed, Business Process Management isn't new, for indeed, it represents a long and winding journey. Going beyond the walls of business, structural changes in how "Work Works" have been woven through a tapestry of social, political and individual contexts. As one contemplate the next great frontier in how work works, globalization, it's vital that one explores these contexts in order to grasp a greater understanding of the road ahead. This article provides a brief history of process change within a company; and then uses that history to suggest some insights into what's likely to come next.
