The UK's liberalized electricity market has stimulated power suppliers to consider how they can gain a competitive edge. This has coincided with a growing recognition over the last decade that electricity generation has environmental consequences. Together, these developments have led to the marketing of "Green Power" - electricity produced from renewable energy sources. Most "traditional" electricity suppliers now offer their customers a green power option. Indeed, one company has been set up specifically for this purpose, with another hoping to come to the market shortly. Green power is clearly becoming a genuine, environmentally important commodity.
