Tohoku University's Research Institute of Electrical Communication has been pioneering research of telecommunications with such inventions as the Yagi-Uda antenna and the magnetron. The Institute recently introduced an SSL-VPN appliance, Nokia Secure Access System and successfully constructed a high-level security network with remote access. They needed a system that would enable them to freely and securely view the documents wherever they were. After studying the total performance, taking into consideration such factors as linkage to existing RADIUS and LDAP certification systems and the cost of introduction, Nokia Secure Access System was chosen. The flexible and secure access control function of the Nokia system fully satisfied the "Mobility and security" sought by the Institute.
