Lyondell Chemical Company, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is the third-largest independent, publicly traded chemical company in North America. Lyondell eventually wanted to combine its voice and data network onto a single IP network, and planned its data network architecture with the goal of supporting voice traffic in the future. The company chose to deploy Cisco IP Communications, to consolidate and standardize its voice and data architecture. Lyondell anticipated reducing its annual operational expenditures related to voice communications by 22 percent as a result of deploying Cisco IP Communications.
