Founded in 1869 by physician and dentist Dr. Thomas Bramwell Welch, the company possesses a rich tradition of innovation. Welch's wanted to replace antiquated mainframe environment in order to get rid of inefficient spreadsheet-based supply chain processes. The company deployed an Oracle 9g database and Oracle Apps 11i.5.10 running on Dell PowerEdge servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server and Microsoft Windows operating systems; VMware software - based virtualization of PowerEdge servers; Dell OpenManage server management software; and a Dell/EMC CX600 Storage Area Network (SAN) for data backup and recovery.
