Rhythm of the Business was originally built in 2003 on Microsoft Office Excel 2003 spreadsheet software and comprises more than 40 worksheets, including more than 17,000 cells used to exchange data with back-end databases. As use of the application expanded, Microsoft business leaders soon wanted more flexible data visualization and dynamic, real-time notifications for more timely decision making. The team was able to migrate the Rhythm of the Business application to the 2007 Office system in a way that did not require extensive recoding or disrupt business, while providing the best of what Office Excel 2007 has to offer. The result of the migration is a more customizable, people-centric, collaborative solution.
