Founded in 1996, Sunnyvale, California's Ariba, Inc. makes software that, among other things, helps companies assess, capture and reconcile spending. As Ariba grew, its management team wanted to identify the organization's strengths and weaknesses, particularly among its sales and consulting staff. With newly acquired staff and solutions added to Ariba's portfolio, the Sunnyvale, California-based firm looked to build a program for measuring and improving the competencies of its Commercial organization, including both sales and consulting. Called AribaWISE, the Learning Management System, which was made by SumTotal Systems, was the catalyst for measuring the Commercial organization's competencies.
