With the General Availability of VTS (Virtual Tape Server) Release 7.2 (2.30.720.x), the Peer-to-Peer (PtP) Selective PtP Copy Function was introduced. The ability to choose the copy mode by virtual tape mount requires the Advanced Function Feature Code(s) (4001, etc.) be installed and enabled on the PtP VTS. The choices of PtP copy mode, previously limited to immediate copy or deferred copy, were expanded to allow no copy as a third option. If properly utilized, this third choice allows the user to lower bandwidth requirement between the peers, and to reduce the physical storage requirements in the peers, compared to the 'must copy' options of immediate copy and deferred copy.
