Interim new function was introduced into WebSphere Application Server in the normal maintenance stream. The function was then applied to the environment of everyone who installed the maintenance, whether they wanted that new function or not. But now there's a slightly new model being used. "Feature Packs" are a way of providing new function on an optional basis. This paper is focused on the first available feature pack for WebSphere Application Server for z/OS - the "Web Services" feature pack.
