"Feature Packs" are a way of providing new function on an optional basis. The function provided in a feature pack is added to a node's configuration through utility jobs created by the zPMT configuration tool. How that is done is the subject of this paper. The key to begin understanding the feature pack architecture is to realize that the files that implement the function of each feature pack is supplied separately from the normal WebSphere Application Server for z/OS product HFS.
