This paper presents a technical comparison of HP-UX 11i v3, AIX 6.1, and Solaris 10 UNIX operating systems, focusing on their functional capabilities in terms of scalability, virtualization, reliability, security, and manageability. In each of these areas, the paper identifies some critical technical requirements, describes the significance of these requirements in current customer environments, and then shows how well HP-UX 11i v3 meets these requirements compared to the other UNIX systems.
