XS4ALL provides Internet access and Web site hosting services. It manages Web applications either on server computers shared by multiple customers or separately on dedicated machines. The company wanted to attract new customers by offering dedicated hosting services based on the Windows Server operating system. XS4ALL also sought to increase its competitive advantage by deploying server software faster and by giving customers more control of their hosted Web infrastructure. XS4ALL began implementing the Windows Server 2008 operating system in its dedicated hosted services environment in September 2007, and it will soon start pilot projects with customers. The company is using Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0, the Web server included in Windows Server 2008, to delegate administrative control of Web applications to its customers.
