Requirements Definition (RD) and Requirements Management (RM) are at the center of successful project fulfillment. Ineffective or failed project delivery is the bane of every IT user and tales of budget overruns, cancellations and time lags are legion. It is quite alarming that significant numbers of IT projects still fail to deliver key benefits on time and to target cost and specification. The cost of project failure is clearly massive and is directly related to misunderstood scope and lack of agreement and understanding between business and IT delivery. The challenge is to effectively bridge the communications gap between the business users who need the solution, the technical engineers and developers who will build it, and the QA, analysts and managers in between.
