Infonavit is an autonomous government organization that provides home loans for workers in Mexico. Infonavit employees need to collaborate frequently, but some existing communications methods are time-consuming. As a result, the company is implementing a unified communications strategy based on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. The company will deliver integrated presence information, e-mail, instant messaging, and conferencing. Next, the company plans to replace its Private Branch Exchange (PBX) system with software-powered Voice over IP (VoIP) communications. Infonavit expects that its employees will recover approximately an hour each day through real-time presence information and improved communications tools. Controlled from the workstation, the new collaboration capabilities will put Infonavit in a better position to meet its institutional goals.
