Amid growing concerns about the reliability of the company's aging enterprise resource planning system, as well as the availability and cost of support, Champion Industries undertook an evaluation to determine a successor. In cooperation with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Sunrise Technologies, Champion Industries deployed Microsoft Dynamics AX to manage critical aspects of the business, including finance, manufacturing, and supply chain management. The company selected Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as the database platform and Windows Server 2003 as the operating system.
