Beca Group needed to reduce the cost of deploying and maintaining an ageing desktop operating system. The company also needed a more stable, secure desktop operating system for its many mobile employees. Beca Group is upgrading to the Windows Vista operating system to reduce the time IT staff spends deploying and supporting the desktop environment. Beca is working with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner DataCom to develop best practices for a planned global deployment of Windows Vista. Windows Vista is now running on 32 desktops in a combination of lab and pilot deployments. Application compatibility testing has shown an 80 percent success rate on the 60 programs installed.
