Charter Communications began as a cable provider in 1993. Today, it is a Fortune 500 company with a diversified portfolio of advanced digital networking services for consumers and business customers. Charter Business wanted to extend managed LAN services to customers over fiber transport. The challenge was to build network flexibility for future services such as video and digital entertainment and simplify network and service management. The company deployed the Cisco Metro Ethernet solution, Cisco routing and switching solutions including Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series switches and other Catalyst switches and Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP).
