Whether it's managing an unscheduled power black - out or dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster, business continuity planning is critical to the ongoing success of the business - and at the core of any business continuity plan is the infrastructure. It's the technology foundation that helps one reduce business risk and keeps the business running. However, challenges have sometimes made it difficult to fully realize the business benefits of the business continuity plan. Virtualizing the infrastructure helps overcome these inhibitors. Virtualization can help increase infrastructure utilization, lower operational costs and reduce complexity. It can also make it easier to manage variations in application workloads by creating virtual machines and application instances that can be automatically migrated across virtual machines.
