For the past 10 years, closed loop RFID enabled applications; including asset management, port and access security, and Work In Process (WIP) tracking, have been core offerings in the RFID arena. However, with the proliferation of Wi-Fi based communication systems in the enterprise, the emergence of e911 technologies in cellular networks, and the global acceptance of Electronic Product Code (EPC) standards; new solution options have emerged that enable organizations to deploy asset tracking and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) in a more scalable, reliable, and cost effective manner.
