Telefonica 02 Czech Republic is the largest provider of wireless voice and data services in the Czech Republic. Telefonica 02 Czech Republic needed to find a technology which deployed quickly to capture the broadband data market while leveraging their 450 MHz spectrum resources. Providing coverage in rural areas was a key challenge for Telefonica 02 Czech Republic because a large portion of their subscribers live in underserved areas where high speed data connections are not available. Telefonica 02 Czech Republic selected Nortel as the vendor of choice after two months of trial, based on Nortel's performance and Nortel's ability to provide a CDMA 450 1xEV-DO solution - for high-speed Internet services - that met the operator's requirements.
