Fincantieri is one of the world's largest shipbuilding groups. The company, which employs 9,300 people, manufactures cruise ships, ferries, and military vessels and handles projects worth ?10 billion (U.S. $12.78 billion). Shipbuilding projects require collaboration between thousands of individuals at hundreds of companies. Historically, Fincantieri relied on disparate project management systems to oversee work and this reduced operational efficiency. The company moved to a new enterprise project management solution, based on Microsoft technology, which optimises project life cycles by integrating information from all business units. It gives employees and partners a common collaboration tool and can easily manage 100 shipbuilding projects simultaneously, while offering flexibility to scale for future needs.
