Founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 1947 as a Piggly Wiggly franchise operation, the Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company revolutionized grocery shopping in South Carolina and Georgia, bringing the company's trademark checkout stands, national brands, and friendly service to consumers.
