To facilitate cross selling and improve employee productivity, Cathay Life Insurance in Taiwan needed to provide employees with everything they needed to work effectively and to meet diverse customer needs. Cathay enhanced employee collaboration and productivity in accordance with a companywide initiative to unify its business when it engaged IBM Business Consulting Services to create an integrated employee workplace based on IBM WebSphere software. A team of 40 IBM consultants and solution architects designed a portal architecture - including hardware, software and application infrastructure - that molds business systems to end users' needs while maintaining security with role-based authorization.
