The Oracle database has always been known as the industry leader in terms of performance and reliability, while at the same time providing extremely rich functionality. Most successful businesses off late uses the Oracle database to power their mission critical applications. However, as the business environment becomes increasingly competitive, the challenge before today's enterprise is to manage their Information Technology (IT) infrastructure at the lowest possible cost without compromising service level objectives. This presents an interesting dilemma since as systems provide more and more capabilities system complexity can increase, and hence these systems can become expensive to manage and sustain. Recognizing these demands, Oracle has done significant work to improve the manageability and ease of use of its products.
