One measure of computing scalability is the ability for a system to quickly and efficiently grow to meet increasing performance demands. VMware ESX Server provides IT organizations with the flexibility to meet those demands by enabling users to create multiple virtual machines on the same physical host server. On a physical machine dedicated to single purpose applications, overall system resource utilization may not take full advantage of the server hardware, but VMware ESX Server has the ability to scale virtualized hardware resources dynamically and evenly across virtual machines. In this paper, Dell Scalable Enterprise engineers present how VMware ESX Server virtual CPU resources can be managed to help achieve flexibility and resource utilization in a virtualized Internet Mail protocol computing environment.
