Employees at the Europe, Middle East, and Africa division of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) face the continual challenge of tailoring the company's IT strategies to suit local conditions. To improve its services and reduce costs, EDS engaged a Microsoft Enterprise Strategy Consultant (ESC) on a full-time basis. The ESC is a strategic consultant to the IT director and supports EDS in planning and deploying future IT solutions to increase productivity and help control spending. With the ESC, EDS initiated the centralisation and consolidation of the existing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 infrastructure and enhanced the services provided in various sites. There are several other projects where the ESC's product knowledge - for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, for example - is helping EDS to implement new business processes.
