First Commercial Bank restructured its business in the last few years in response to increasing competition and the internationalization of the Taiwanese financial market. The bank needed to enhance asset and liability management, and create more flexible reporting tools to enable in-depth analysis. Oracle Financial Services Applications (OFSA) helped the bank improve fund pricing and profit and risk management by delivering accurate data to sales managers and senior directors, giving them the ability to adjust formulae, and simulate profit margins for different product types and market conditions. Greater financial control enabled the bank to achieve a pretax profit of TWD 13.7 billion (US$412 million) in 2006.
