The department wanted to manage equipment, repairs, and preventive maintenance for more than 10,000 lighting points and the associated network. The challenge was to synchronize and update alphanumeric and cartographic data in real time and respect the Geographic Information System (GIS) architecture in place and make it possible to interface with existing third-party applications. The department worked with Generale d'Infographie to deploy EP Center - a Web-based public lighting management solution for capital equipment, repairs, and preventive maintenance - on Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Application Server. It also implemented Oracle Database 10g to take advantage of its ability to handle a large volume of alphanumeric and cartographic data.
