Munich, Germany-based software provider metaio GmbH provides Augmented Reality (AR) technology - built on the Microsoft platform - to enable consumers to blend photos of their actual surroundings with three-Dimensional (3D) models of a company's products for viewing in a Web browser. Using just a digital camera and the metaio AR technology, provided as a software service on the e-commerce retailer's Web site, shoppers can superimpose the 3D models on top of their chosen photo.
