Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, ATV is Austria's largest and only national commercial broadcaster and the first privately owned domestic rival to the Austrian state-owned television stations, ORF1 and ORF2. One of ATV's key challenges was to safely and reliably archive its workgroup content in its tapeless environment. What it needed was a backup system that could handle MXF files, which have become essential to its workflow. As a solution the SDLT 600A uses Super DLTtape II, which enables ATV to store key MXF metadata in a tape-based file system directory at the beginning of each tape. ATV now has video tape-like access to sub-clips by timecode.
