Grontmij is a ?543 billion (U.S.$728 billion) engineering consultancy based in De Bilt, The Netherlands, with 7,000 employees distributed among 150 offices and 10 countries in Europe. It serves both the public and private sectors, focusing on building, transportation, environment, water, energy, and industrial projects. Because it needed a larger communications system that could reliably accommodate e-mail, voice mail, and instant messaging, Grontmij upgraded all its offices to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition for e-mail, and deployed Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging to integrate its e-mail and voice mail into a single inbox. As a result of these changes, it's easier for employees to communicate, no matter where they might be working. Grontmij now enjoys increased capacity, improved performance, and better monitoring of its communication applications.
