Business Process Management (BPM) is a management discipline that combines a process-centric and cross-functional approach to improving how organizations achieve their business goals. A BPM solution provides the tools that help make these processes explicit, as well as the functionality to help business manager's control and change both manual and automated workflows. Developing and deploying business processes on the Microsoft platform will typically utilize some combination of the following tools and technologies: Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), Windows Communications Foundation (WCF), Microsoft BizTalk Server, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. A business process is a set of tasks and outcomes associated with a business activity. A canonical set of requirements and capabilities exist for supporting the design, development, and implementation of a business process.
