This paper provides an in-depth competitive benchmarking analysis between the Adaptec SCSI RAID 3210S and the Mylex AcceleRAID 352. Both are dual channel Ultra160 SCSI controllers, are similarly priced, and target the same server segment. Controller performance was measured using Intel's IOmeter. IOmeter offers a number of standard test suites that simulate real-world applications. These test suites are characterized by I/O sizes and spatial distributions predefined by IOmeter to mimic the behavior of the specific application. The test suites included Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), file server, web server, and video server.
