Organizations and business must have a good understanding of the features and characteristics of network storage in order to design and implement a network storage system that addresses their present and future needs. This paper will define and compare the Storage Area Networks (SAN) with Network-Attached Storage (NAS) as well as a historical perspective of Directly-Attached Storage (DAS).
