Identity management (IdM) systems offer account management and provisioning capabilities for the enterprise. However, IdM systems do not necessarily understand the underlying intricacies of a target system’s privilege model; this is particularly true of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Organizations are turning to enterprise application controls management (EACM) systems to augment their IdM deployments. EACM systems provide fine-grained access controls and separation of duties (SoD) enforcement for ERP systems. In this report, Analyst Lori Rowland describes EACM technologies and highlights the integration points between IdM and EACM.
