Autodesk, a leading developer of state-of-the-art 2-D and 3-D applications, wanted to improve communication, collaboration, and the management of new product development and introduction processes. Within the Manufacturing Solutions Division (MSD), engineers used e-mail to exchange information with team members worldwide. People wasted time pinpointing the latest version of files. After researching various applications, MSD deployed a product life-cycle solution built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and the Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management Solution. As a result, MSD has created a people-ready engineering desktop - and improved data sharing, accelerated employee productivity, boosted efficiency, and simplified system access for contractors.
