The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes (Nantes Teaching Hospital) has 22 health care sites and 3,300 beds. The challenge was to modernize Nantes' technical infrastructure to support crucial applications and help the hospital cope with the growth in use of the SAMU services and ensure the availability of the resources-management application, which manages ambulances, doctors, equipment and facilities and tracks calls and follows up on case-files. The company implemented Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g, enabling the hospital to move to an open source Linux system for greater flexibility and lower costs. Nantes added Oracle Data Guard 10g on a remote third machine to ensure full system recovery and redundancy for vital medical records and activities.
