Founded in 1958, Xiangtan Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. (XISC) is a leading national steel conglomerate and a major producer of wire and metal products in China. Highly profitable, the company has total fixed assets of US$688 million, net assets of US$410 million, and an annual comprehensive production capacity of 2 million tons of steel. The challenge was to restructure workflows by establishing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to integrate the flow of materials, money, and information. XISC chose Oracle's ERP system for its openness, which allowed the company to fully integrate its applications and ensure the integrity, speed, and accuracy of the data in its production systems.
