This paper provides with an introduction to the platforms and development tools that are available as they develop mobile device applications by using the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework. Students will gain an understanding of how the .NET Compact Framework greatly simplifies the process of creating applications and deploying them to mobile devices while also taking full advantage of the capabilities of the device. In addition, the paper teaches about some of the unique design considerations that developing for mobile devices presents, in particular considerations related to the form factor, memory, user input techniques, and the type of connectivity used in a mobile device application scenario.
