Instituto Tecnologico de Merida (Merida Technology Institute) is a public higher education and a postgraduate institute whose mission is to offer an integrated professional education in engineering and administration. The institute wanted to develop the school's service systems to improve management processes, including registration and class assignments. The challenge was to acquire a robust database to support the development of new applications and facilitate administrative decision-making and improve services to students by creating a secure, easily accessible portal for registration, grades, and class information. The institute implemented Oracle Portal, improving user satisfaction by offering an array of new convenient online services to students, teachers and administrators and used data and statistics uncovered by Oracle Discoverer to facilitate overall planning and control.
